CHARLOTTE’S SALAMI SANDWICH
Submitted by Charlotte King
The world famous recipe, right at your fingertips!
In this recipe, I will show you how to construct
the perfect salami and cheese sandwich for all your lunching needs. This is a tried and true recipe, often made by
me in my school days to bring as a packed lunch. I hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
- Italian white bread (2 slices)
- Genoa salami (8 slices)
- Cabot Vermont Sharp Cheddar cheese (2 slices)
- Little Leaf lettuce (~4 leaves)
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
Optional ingredients
- Bell pepper (4 slices, any color)
- Red onion (3 slices)
- Bread and butter pickles (2)
Instructions:
- First, get a plate or paper towels and place your slices of bread so the faces of both sides are available for toppings.
- Next, place each of your eight salami slices across one of the bread slices. Do this in such a way where you are getting maximum coverage of the bread. The less of the bread slice you can see, the better.
- Place your two slices of cheddar cheese next to each other on top of the salami. Your goal now is to see as little of the salami as possible.
- Take your lettuce and use it to cover your cheese and salami as best as possible.
- You have completed your work with the first bread slice. Now, on the other, use a butter knife to spread some mayonnaise across the entire face of the other bread slice.
- Repeat previous step but with mustard.
- Carefully grab the slice of bread that has your condiments from the sides, lift it and place it face-down squarely upon the toppings of the other slice of bread. Do this in such a way that the edges of the two bread slices line up as much as possible. Push down on the top slice to ensure your sandwich's structural integrity.
- Sandwich complete!
